Guten Morgen. I woke up about an hour and a half ago, and thought that I should write another entry, since I haven't updated in a while.
This morning's menu: White miso soup with tofu and mochi.
New Year's time is when the Japanese culture pound mochi (rice cake, smooshed up rice), and since my church always makes the mochi the old-fashioned way, pounding it in a big stone bowl with wooden hammer looking things (can't remember the exact names of these items), we always have a lot of mochi to eat. My dad has been making miso soup with mochi every day since the new year started.
I apologize to you if I have any typos in this entry. Like I said, I woke up not too long ago, so I don't have my eyes in yet.
In less than a week, I go back to Baton Rouge. I haven't gotten around to doing things that I want to do yet!! The one thing I wanted to really do was to go to Waimea Bay to at least take pictures. During the winter season, the North Shore gets really rough, so I don't think they allow people to swim there. Waves have been at LEAST 6-8 feet, which is good stuff for surfers. I've been working as much as I can, and my manager asked if I could work on Friday, 11am-4pm. The thing is, Friday was the day my friends and I were thinking of going for a drive to the North Shore, get some Shave Ice at Matsumoto's and stop by some beaches.... I'll probably end up telling my boss that I can't work on that day.
My friend, let me think of a name for him..... ummm.... GBCboy. Yeah. GBCboy's birthday is coming up, and I was at Hot Topic a couple of days ago, when I came across this shirt that just kept saying, "Buy me... buy me...." So I bought it and I'll be giving it to GBCboy for his birthday. It says, "I'm wearing black until they make a darker color". See, GBCboy wears all black, all the time. He's not goth, but he just loves wearing all black. Heh. The day you see him wearing white or any color other than black, you can safely say, "Is today laundry day?"
I work from 5-9 today. Just like I worked last night, too. It's only four hours, but it gives the other people working the time to take their dinner break and such. If I weren't there, they'd be shorthanded on the floor.
Tomorrow, well, like I said, my friends and I are planning to go driving/riding around the island. Later that night, I'm going to go to the UH Women's Basketball Game. Hopefully it's not too crowded in the Pep Band area... I'm planning on playing with them. I wanted to play at least one game, since this whole year I'm not here.
Saturday is my birthday. Yay. I have to work from 9-5 on Saturday. Yay. heh. I wanted to do something with my friends on Saturday night, but I might not be able to, since my mom wanted to do something, too. Somehow, family has to be first, friends second. Sucks, but oh well, life goes on. I'll try to see if I can do something with my friends on Sunday night. The only problem would be that Sunday is when people move back into the dorms at UH, and two of my friends are dorming. I'll try anyway.
Well, I need to put my eyes in, shower and get ready to go. I'm picking up my friend in a little while to go to the mall. Need to look for a couple of things. Hopefully I don't end up spending money... that's always bad.
