Current Music: David Bowie (with Trent Reznor) - "I'm Afraid of Americans"First day of school.
Well, I decided I wouldn't go because it's the day I have only one class, and I'll regularly not be going to it on Mondays, so I will pick up all the information on Wednesday.
There are so many things I should be doing today before work starts, but I am so exhausted from life itself, I'd rather just sleep through it all. This was the last weekend where Saturday I work both jobs, so I'm so tired from it. Also, Sunday night I left an hour later than I was scheduled because the café was left in such a mess (apparently it was incredibly busy that the people who were working in there earlier didn't have any time at all to clean up after themselves), I stayed to help restock everything. Some people who work in there just don't care at all about the place, so once it's their time to clock out, they want out of there. It becomes a pain for them to stay an extra two minutes to stack more cups and lids out for the next shift, or to even FINISH WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. Each shift has a particular job assigned to it, and sometimes they just don't do it. It pisses me off.
I need to finish writing my new resumé for the café supervisor application. The first time I applied for a supervisor position, which was last October for the Training Supervisor, I wrote a very plain and simple resumé by just following the template on MS Works. The second time I applied, again for Training Supervisor, I just recycled the resumé. This time, however, I want to do as good a job on it as I can. This is the spot I have wanted, but I always figured the supervisor, who was here when I was a regular worker in the café, would always be here. I wanted to learn how the place was run, thinking that one day I might actually not mind having my own little café in the future. Now, of course, I doubt that will happen, since I have seen how COMPLETELY STUPID corporate can be. In any case, I do eventually want to teach music.
If I can get the Café Supervisor position, I want to try and make it a better place again. When the supervisor from a year ago was running the place, it was great. After she left, the next person was just kind of shuffled in there to have a quick replacement. She was a good supervisor, but it took a while for her to pick up how the whole place is run. When she left, another person got placed in there, and the same thing happened again, where it's taking a while to get used to everything. I think I will do a little better than the previous two, simply because I have worked in the café and will keep track of what needs to be ordered and not heavily rely on people to let me know what needs to be ordered. That's where it started becoming a problem. People wouldn't notice when something was running low, but they would only notice when something was completely out. That doesn't help, at all.
I still think that the General Manager has something against me, but I can't prove it because she has a very odd sense of humor, and it can throw people off pretty easily. Honestly, if they want the café to run better, it should either be me or possibly someone from outside the store (corporation thing, supervisory positions get posted at neighboring stores as well). I may be a lazy person, but if I'm given something to do, I will try and do my best at it, especially if others are counting on me to do it.
Also, if I can get that position, I won't have to have two jobs. I think, even though the raise to a supervisor isn't a huge amount, I can survive on it with the rest of my funds from school. The pizza job will not be necessary.
Time to get off my lazy ass and start that resumé.
