Current music: Goo Goo Dolls - "Long Way Down"I guess I should update, since I haven't written an actual entry in quite a while.
I got the Café Supervisor position. I was one of two people who applied, and the other person would've done a good job, too. Either way would've been good. I like the idea that I will finally be getting a decent raise, even though it'll probably end up just being $1.00/hr more. It's enough that I can quit the pizza delivery job. In fact... the bookstore says I HAVE to quit. Corporate bullshit.... since the pizza store is food service, and our café is food service, and that I hold a supervisor position, it falls under the category of "Conflict of Interest". That's stupid. It's not as though a Pizza Place and a Books and Music Store could EVER be placed under the same category, or be considered competition. I can understand not being able to hold the job at the other café, but pizza delivery? Psh. I may stick with being On-Call, nothing more than that. Then again, I may just end up quitting it entirely, since I need to find a new car insurance company.
You heard me. I need to find a new car insurance company. Why? Geico, the company I have until the end of this month, said they would not allow me to renew my insurance with them because I use my car for pizza delivery. They apparently don't cover commercial use of personal vehicles. Lame, but oh well. They claim that the pizza store called Geico to confirm that I have insurance with them, and because of that, they found out. The pizza store never called anyone elses' insurance companies to check up on them... why me? Murphy must have me on his list this month.
Added to the stress I already have, the former Café Supervisor quit on Friday. He got fed up with the crap he had to take from the General Manager (yay, what I have in store for me), so he quit. That leaves me with training on Monday night, closing shift, and that's it. After that, I have the supervisor schedule. Great, eh? One day of training, and I get thrown out there. I also have very full days. I had purposely kept Tuesday and Thursday free of school classes in order to have open days for work. What happens? Borders makes my days off Tuesday and Thursday. Wonderful. I also get to close on Friday, meaning I have to be in store until about 1am, then I also go to work on Saturday from 8am. Lovely. That's all because I want Saturday afternoon off for Football (and Marching Band). After football season is over, it looks like they plan to have me closing on Saturdays. If that's the case, I will definitely complain. NO ONE should be subjected to having to close the damned store on BOTH Friday AND Saturday. That's insane torture. That'll end up happening to me, because they want me to suffer. I can tell.
ANOTHER addition to the stress, my manager told me that I will have to go to Oregon for Café Supervisor Trainer training. I am to be the regional Café Supervisor Trainer. Yippee. I wasn't expecting that, since the Supervisor at the other store, the other one on the island, has been in the café a long time, and I would think she would be a better choice. I guess it's because our store is the flagship store of our region. It looks like the trip will probably be the second week of October. I'm glad they aren't going to plan this during my trip to Japan with my Church Young Women's Club. That would piss me off to no end.
Other news... I am hoping to be completely moved in by Sunday (today), or at least by Tuesday. Since now I don't work on Tuesday or Thursday, I will have whole days in which to move things into the apartment. There isn't a whole lot more to do other than dust the cabinets, line them if necessary, put together any other furniture, and pick up some groceries. My brother will be helping me move a coffee table, plastic dresser (ghetto? maybe), small bookshelf, and maybe some boxes of things. I don't know what are in these boxes I just mentioned, but I have a feeling I will end up throwing a whole bunch of crap into boxes and bringing it with me, sort through them later. The more I think about it, the less I think I will be able to finish this all by today. I also need to move my computer, so that may be done on Tuesday.
DSL or cable... not sure what to choose.
DSL
Standard Phone Package: $28.95 Verizon DSL (with MSN 8): $29.95 (+$6.50 charge for upkeep of the lines statewide)
Cable
Basic analog cable (68 channels): $35.95 Time Warner Road Runner Service: $44.95 (+$100 installation) Right now, free installation and $10/mo. off for first six months
I'm leaning more toward DSL.
Well, I am going to get going and sort through clothes to figure out what I will be taking with me and what I will be leaving here. I have way too many things to take it all with me to the apartment. I plan to keep my room in the house until I can afford to live in a bigger place. I want to let Mon-key have more space for his things, since he'll be bringing pretty much everything he owns.
Catch you laters, insomniacs.
