Since I haven't written anything in here for a very long time, I decided to check and see if my diary was still on here or not. They do close down diaries that aren't accessed after a certain period of time....
Been lazy and busy at the same time, so it's not easy to sit down and write a long, involved entry. That's why I write more often (which is still not very much at all) in my LiveJournal; I write short little blurbs of info on me there.
Anyway, recent things that have been going on in my life.... Trying to find a new apartment. The one we're in right now is somewhat small, always hot, and now the realtor is going to up the rent by at least $50. I say "at least" because if we sign for another one-year lease, rent will be $870 a month. If we decide to go month-to-month, it will be $920. This place isn't worth the $820 we're paying for right NOW, and they want to raise rent?! Insanity.
So, I've signed up with a lady who is in real estate that lists places that allow pets. Some of the listings are not found anywhere else, so it's kind of helpful... though not as helpful as I'd wish it were. The cost of these places listed aren't always in our price range, and there are very few places listed in Honolulu; most of them are listings for outside, far away from town. Another place I check out a lot is the Humane Society website, which has listings of places that allow pets. Nothing there yet, either. I also check the local newspaper online, and that takes a lot of time to do, since I need to filter through all the ones that say "No pets" and to also filter out the ones that don't specify. The ones that don't specify usually will say "no pets" when you call... *sigh*.
On other news, just today I found out that I was OK'd for Pell Grant and Subsidized Staffor Loan for school. I've been waiting for this news, because if I couldn't get any Financial Aid, I wouldn't be able to continue. The bills to just live in the outside world come up to more than I can manage with the job I have. I wouldn't be able to afford to go to school without help. I can finally rest a little easier now that I know I have funds.
Something that doesn't happen to everyone... I had to go to court last Tuesday. Why? I was the Manager On Duty when this girl tried to steal candy from our store. I decided to have the Security call the police, and the girl was arrested. I was supposed to represent the store in the court hearing. Key part of the sentence is "supposed to". The girl didn't show up, which means she's got a bench warrant on her, and I'll end up having to go to court again, at a later date. Not too bad, though... I get paid for that whole Tuesday, even though I only sat outside the courtroom for an hour.
My brother is engaged. They'll probably get married in November or December. Not too sure yet. She's from Japan, so she has to move all her things here, and work on getting her Green Card. I think my bro said he's going to Japan in September and getting the license there, so he can work on the Green Card thing. So far, she's been okay. Recently I found out she is a total clean freak and germ-o-phobe. She has told my bro she wants to get a dog some day... yet she was freaking out about all the dog hair and germs from when we brought our dog to their house. I wonder if she knows what she's going to get into if she gets a pet of any sort? Unless it's a fish...
